Healing Your Money Story: How to Rewrite the Narrative That’s Keeping You Stuck
Let’s talk about something that might be the very thing holding you back in your business. It’s not your content strategy, your offers, or even your audience size it’s your relationship with money.
Because here’s the truth: you can work hard, put in all the hours, and follow every business tip in the book, but if deep down you don’t believe you’re worthy of financial success, you’ll keep hitting a wall. And the worst part? You might not even realize you’re doing it.
Your money story the beliefs and experiences you’ve carried since childhood—shapes how you earn, spend, and even how much you allow yourself to receive.
And if that story is rooted in scarcity? It’s time to rewrite it.
Your money story is the collection of thoughts, emotions, and beliefs you’ve built around money. It started forming long before you ever made a dime. Maybe you grew up hearing, “We can’t afford that,” or “Money doesn’t grow on trees.”Maybe you watched your parents stress over bills or saw wealthy people labeled as greedy.
Without realizing it, those messages became your beliefs.
For years, I felt like I was always falling short of big financial goals, like I was somehow just not meant to have realsuccess. I told myself that money was hard to earn and that maybe I just wasn’t the kind of person who could create wealth.
Sound familiar?
If so, I need you to hear me when I say this: Your past does not determine your future. The beliefs you’ve been carrying? They are not facts. And just like any story, this one can be rewritten.
If you’ve ever caught yourself thinking things like…
💭 I’m not good enough to charge that much.
💭 People won’t pay me for what I offer.
💭 Money is hard to come by.
…those are limiting beliefs. And they’re not just thoughts they’re rules you’ve unknowingly set for yourself.
One of the best ways to uncover these hidden beliefs is through journaling. Take a few minutes and ask yourself:
I included over 180 money mindset prompts in my 365-day journaling book because this work matters. If you’ve never taken time to unpack these thoughts, now is your chance.
Once you’ve identified the limiting beliefs holding you back, it’s time to change them. Instead of repeating the same old narrative, create a new one that supports your growth.
Instead of “Money is hard to come by,” start saying, “Money flows to me with ease.”
Instead of “I’m not good enough to charge that,” try, “I offer incredible value and am worthy of financial success.”
Does it feel weird at first? Of course. Your brain has spent years believing the opposite. But the more you repeat these new beliefs, the more they start to feel true.
One of my favorite exercises? Writing a letter to my future self.
Picture yourself as the version of you who has already healed their money story. The one who isn’t stressed about bills, who sets prices with confidence, who invests in herself without guilt. What does she believe? How does she think about money? How does she feel about financial success?
Go deeper what does she look like? What kind of energy does she carry? What habits does she have?
The gap between where you are and where you want to be isn’t just about making more money it’s about stepping into the mindset and habits of someone who is already there.
And that means making changes today.
If the best version of you doesn’t say yes to every underpriced offer or hesitate to raise her rates, then guess what? You don’t need to either. If she takes time to invest in herself and trust her ability to create wealth, then you start doing that now.
You know the difference between a scarcity mindset and an abundance mindset? It’s how you react when someone else succeeds.
Do you feel jealous when someone hits a goal you haven’t reached? Or do you feel inspired because they just proved it’s possible?
Because the truth is, there is no limit to success. Someone else winning does not take away from your potential. Abundance means knowing there’s enough for everyone including you.
So this week, I want you to do two things:
1️⃣ Take some time to journal about your money story. What limiting beliefs have been holding you back? What’s the new story you’re choosing to believe instead?
2️⃣ Create one affirmation around money that you can repeat daily. Something like “I am worthy of financial success” or “Money flows to me easily and abundantly.”
I’d love to hear what you come up with! DM me or tag me on Instagram @boisedigitalcollective and let me know what money story you’re rewriting.
